Bactericidal to a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
Treats respiratory tract infections, genito-urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal tract infections, osteomyelitis, skin infections, and more
Broad spectrum bactericidal activity
Contains Trimethoprim and Sulphamethoxazole in a 1:5 combination
Dosage for mild to moderate infections, severe infections, long term therapy, and gonorrhea
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to trimethoprim or sulphonamides, megaloblastic anaemia, liver parenchymal damage, blood dyscrasia, severe renal insufficiency, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
Rare side effects including crystalluria, allergic reactions, haemolysis, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis
Pregnancy and lactation precaution due to sulphonamides passing placenta and excreted in breast milk
Prolonged full dose treatment associated with the risk of macrocytic anaemia
