Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to trimethoprim or sulphonamides
- Megaloblastic anaemia due to folate deficiency
- Marked liver parenchymal damage
- Blood dyscrasia
- Severe renal insufficiency
- Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency

Pregnancy & Lactation
Passage of sulphonamides through placenta and breast milk leading to kernicterus
Precautions & Warnings
- Risk of macrocytic anaemia
- Interference with Folic acid conversion into Folinic acid
- Possible potentiation of sulphonylurea action in diabetic patients
