Indications

  • Treatment of corneal ulcers
  • Treatment of conjunctivitis

Composition

  • Active Substance: Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 3 mg
  • Preservative: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.06 mg

Pharmacology

  • Bactericidal action
  • Inhibition of DNA gyrase
  • Activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms

Interaction

  • Elevation of plasma concentrations of theophylline
  • Interference with the metabolism of caffeine

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin
  • Hypersensitivity to other quinolones including Nalidixic acid

  • Local burning or discomfort
  • White crystalline precipitates in corneal ulcer studies
  • Lid margin crusting
  • Foreign body sensation
  • Itching
  • Conjunctival hyperemia
  • Bad taste following instillation

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Use during pregnancy if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus

Precautions & Warnings

  • Prolonged use resulting in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
  • Discontinuation at the first appearance of a skin rash or hypersensitivity reaction

  • Topical overdose can be flushed from the eye(s) with warm tap water
