Indications

Composition

  • Active Substance: Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 3 mg per ml
  • Preservative: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.06 mg per ml

Pharmacology

  • Bactericidal
  • Inhibits the A subunits of DNA gyrase (topoisomerase)
  • Acts against a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or any other component of the product
  • Hypersensitivity to other quinolones

Side Effects

  • Local burning or discomfort
  • White crystalline precipitates in approximately 17% of patients
  • Lid margin crusting, crystals/scales, foreign body sensation, itching, conjunctival hyperemia
  • Less frequent reactions such as corneal staining, keratopathy/keratitis, allergic reactions, lid edema

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
  • Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus

Precautions & Warnings

  • Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
  • Discontinue use and initiate alternative therapy if super-infection occurs
  • Discontinue at first appearance of skin rash or hypersensitivity reaction

Overdose Effects

  • Topical overdose may be flushed from the eye(s) with warm tap water
