Indications
- Treatment of corneal ulcers

Composition
- Active Substance: Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 3 mg per ml
- Preservative: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.06 mg per ml

- Bactericidal
- Inhibits the A subunits of DNA gyrase (topoisomerase)
- Acts against a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms

Interaction
- Potential interaction with theophylline
- Potential interaction with caffeine metabolism

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or any other component of the product
- Hypersensitivity to other quinolones
Side Effects
- Local burning or discomfort
- White crystalline precipitates in approximately 17% of patients
- Lid margin crusting, crystals/scales, foreign body sensation, itching, conjunctival hyperemia
- Less frequent reactions such as corneal staining, keratopathy/keratitis, allergic reactions, lid edema
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
Precautions & Warnings
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Discontinue use and initiate alternative therapy if super-infection occurs
- Discontinue at first appearance of skin rash or hypersensitivity reaction
Overdose Effects
- Topical overdose may be flushed from the eye(s) with warm tap water
