Indications
- Treatment of corneal ulcers
- Treatment of conjunctivitis

Composition
- Active Substance: Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 3 mg per ml
- Preservative: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.06 mg per ml
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal
- Inhibits A subunits of DNA gyrase (topoisomerase)
Dosage & Administration
- 2 drops every 15 minutes for first six hours for corneal ulcers
- 2 drops every 30 minutes for remainder of first day for corneal ulcers
- 1 drop every two hours for two days for bacterial conjunctivitis/blepharitis
- 1 drop every four hours for the next five days for bacterial conjunctivitis/blepharitis
- Safety and effectiveness in children under 1 year of age not established
Interaction
- May elevate plasma concentrations of theophylline
- May interfere with metabolism of caffeine
- May enhance effects of oral anticoagulant warfarin
- May cause transient elevations in serum creatinine in patients receiving cyclosporin concomitantly
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or any other component of the product
- Hypersensitivity to other quinolones, including Nalidixic acid
Side Effects
- Local burning or discomfort
- White crystalline precipitates in approximately 17% of patients
- Lid margin crusting
- Foreign body sensation
- Itching
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Bad taste following instillation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
Precautions & Warnings
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Discontinue use and initiate alternative therapy if super-infection occurs
- Discontinue at the first appearance of a skin rash or any sign of hypersensitivity reaction
Overdose Effects
- Topical overdose may be flushed from the eye(s) with warm tap water

- Store at room temperature
- Protect from light
- Desirable to not use more than one month after first opening of bottle
