Description
- Beuflox is indicated for the treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms. It can also be used for infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics including Aminoglycosides, Penicillins and Cephalosporins.

- Treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms
- Treatment of infections caused by resistant organisms
- Antibacterial concentration in serum and body tissues
- Treatment of urinary, respiratory, gastrointestinal tract infections
- Treatment of gonorrhoea and septicaemia
- Treatment of severe systemic infections
- Treatment of respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of urinary tract infections
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
- Treatment of gastrointestinal infections
- Treatment of biliary tract and intra-abdominal infections
- Treatment of bone and joint infections
- Treatment of pelvic infections
- Treatment of eye, ear, nose and throat infections
- Interaction with Aminoglycosides and beta lactam antibiotics
Pharmacology
- Synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent
- Broad spectrum of activity
- Active against gram negative aerobic bacteria
- Active against gram positive aerobic bacteria
- Bactericidal action by interference with DNA gyrase
- Rapid and well absorption from G.I. tract
- Widely distributed into body tissues and fluids
- Half-life of about 3.5 hours
- Excretion in urine as unchanged drug and metabolites
Dosage
- Dosage determined by severity, infection type, and patient
- Dosage range for adults: 100-750 mg twice daily
- Different dosages for urinary tract, respiratory tract, and gonorrhoea
- Specific dosages for cystic fibrosis, impaired renal function, elderly, and adolescents
- Duration of treatment based on severity and clinical response
Administration
- Instruction for the use of Ciprofloxacin IV infusion
Interaction
- Concurrent administration precautions with antacids and dairy products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones

- Seizures, hallucinations, confusion, abdominal discomfort, renal and hepatic impairment
