Description
- Ceprocon is indicated for the treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms. It can also be used for infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics.
- Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent. Ciprofloxacin has broad spectrum of activity. It is active against most gram negative aerobic bacteria including Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
- The dosage range for adults is 100-750 mg twice daily. Infections of the lower and upper urinary tract: 250-500 mg twice daily. Respiratory tract infections: 250-500mg twice daily. Gonorrhea: A single dose of 250 or 500 mg.
- Instruction for the use of Ciprofloxacin IV infusion.
- Concurrent administration of Ceprocon should be avoided with Magnesium or Aluminum containing antacids or sucralfate or with other products containing Calcium, Iron or Zinc.
Indications
- Treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms

- Indicated for severe systemic, respiratory, urinary, skin and soft tissue, gastrointestinal, biliary tract, intra-abdominal, bone and joint, pelvic, eye/ear/nose/throat infections
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal action results from interference with the enzyme DNA gyrase
- Active against most gram negative aerobic bacteria including Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Active against gram-positive aerobic bacteria including penicillinase producing, non-penicillinase producing, and methicillin resistant staphylococci
Dosage
- Dosage range for adults is 100-750 mg twice daily
- Single dose of 250 or 500 mg for gonorrhea
- Dosage in cystic fibrosis
- Dosage adjustment in impaired renal function
- Duration of treatment varies based on severity of infection
