Indications
- Treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics
- Infections of the urinary, respiratory, and gastrointestinal tracts
- Septicaemia
- Gonorrhoea
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Gastrointestinal infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Eye, ear, nose, and throat infections

- Indication for a wide range of infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Infection of the biliary tract

Pharmacology
- Synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent
- Broad spectrum of activity
- Active against most gram-negative aerobic bacteria
- Active against some gram-positive aerobic bacteria
- Bactericidal action results from interference with DNA gyrase
- Rapid and well absorption from the gastrointestinal tract
- Widely distributed into body tissues and fluids
Dosage
- Dosage is determined by severity, type of infection, and patient's characteristics
- Dosage range for adults: 100-750 mg twice daily
- Different dosages for varying infections (e.g., lower and upper urinary tract, respiratory tract, gonorrhoea)
- Dosage adjustment for impaired renal function
- No dosage adjustment for the elderly
- Duration of treatment depends on infection severity and clinical response
Administration
- Instructions for intravenous infusion administration
- Precautions for using the IV infusion
- Regulation of the rate of administration
Interaction
- Avoid concurrent administration with certain antacids and dairy products
- Allow a time gap before or after taking specific products with Ciprin
Contraindications
- History of hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones

- May lead to seizures, hallucinations, abdominal discomfort, and reversible renal toxicity
