Description
- Ciprol is indicated for the treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms. It can also be used for infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics including Aminoglycosides, Penicillins and Cephalosporins.
- Ciprofloxacin is a synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent with broad spectrum of activity.

- Respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Gastro-intestinal infections
- Infections of the biliary tract
- Intra abdominal infections
- Bone and joint infection
- Pelvic infections
- Eye, ear, nose and throat infections

Pharmacology
- Bactericidal action results from interference with the enzyme DNA gyrase needed for the synthesis of bacterial DNA.
Dosage
- Dosage range for adults is 100-750 mg twice daily
- Dosage for specific infections like urinary tract, respiratory tract, and gonorrhea
- Dosage adjustment in impaired renal function
- Duration of treatment depends on severity of infection
- Specific dosage recommendations for adolescents and children
- Extended-release tablet recommended dosage
Administration
- Instructions for IV infusion administration
Interaction
- Concurrent administration with certain antacids and dairy products should be avoided for optimal absorption.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones

Overdose Effects
- May lead to seizures, hallucinations, confusion, abdominal discomfort, renal and hepatic impairment, crystalluria, and reversible renal toxicity
