Pharmacology

Dosage
- Dosage determined by severity and type of infection
- Adult dosage range: 100-750 mg twice daily
- Specific dosages for urinary tract infections

- Dosage adjustments for impaired renal function
- No dosage adjustment for elderly
- Adolescents and children dosage: 7.5-15 mg/kg/day

Administration
- Instruction for use of Ciprofloxacin IV infusion
- Check for leaks and solution integrity
- Suspend bag from hanger
- Regulate rate of administration with flow control clamp
Interaction
- Avoid concurrent administration with certain antacids and products containing Calcium, Iron or Zinc
- Avoid concurrent administration with milk or dairy products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones
