Indications
- Treats severe systemic infections like septicaemia and bacteraemia

Pharmacology

- Active against most gram-negative aerobic bacteria including Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Also active against gram-positive aerobic bacteria including penicillinase-producing and methicillin-resistant staphylococci
Dosage
- Dependent on infection severity, causative organism, age, weight, and renal function
- Duration of treatment depends on severity, clinical response, and bacteriological findings
- Dosage for pediatric population: 7.5-15 mg/kg/day administered in two divided doses

Interaction
- Avoid concurrent administration with certain antacids or products containing Calcium, Iron, or Zinc
- Do not take concurrently with milk or dairy products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones

Overdose Effects
- May lead to seizures, hallucinations, confusion, abdominal discomfort, renal and hepatic impairment, crystalluria, and haematuria
