Description
- Flontin is indicated for the treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms. It can also be used for infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics including Aminoglycosides, Penicillins and Cephalosporins. As antibacterial concentrations of Flontin are obtained in serum and body tissues as well as in the urine following administration by mouth, Flontin has been suggested for use in the treatment of a wide range of infections caused by susceptible organisms including infections of the urinary, respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts, gonorrhoea and septicaemia.

Dosage Recommendations
- Determined by severity and type of infection, sensitivity of causative organism(s), age, weight, and renal function of the patient
Dosage Options
- 100-750 mg twice daily for adults
- 250-500 mg twice daily for urinary tract infections
- 250-500 mg twice daily for respiratory tract infections
- 500-750 mg twice daily for majority of other infections
- 750 mg twice daily for cystic fibrosis in adults with pseudomonal infections
- Dosage adjustment for impaired renal function
- No dosage adjustment for elderly
- 7.5-15 mg/kg/day for adolescents and children
Duration of Treatment
- 5 to 10 days for acute infections
Interaction Precautions
- Avoid concurrent administration with certain antacids or dairy products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones
