Description
- Synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent
- Treats single and mixed infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Broad spectrum of activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria
Dosage range
- 100-750 mg twice daily for adults
Urinary tract infection dosage
- 250-500 mg twice daily for upper and lower urinary tract infections
Respiratory tract infection dosage
- 250-500 mg twice daily for both upper and lower respiratory tract infections
- 750 mg twice daily for Streptococcus pneumonia infection
Gonorrhea dosage
- A single dose of 250 or 500 mg
Cystic fibrosis dosage
- 750 mg twice daily for adults with pseudomonal infections of the lower respiratory tract
Dosage adults general
- 500-750 mg twice daily for most other infections
Renal function adjustment
- Dosage adjustment may be required in patients with renal impairment
Dosage elderly
- No dosage adjustment is necessary for the elderly
Dosage children
- Use not recommended in growing children and adolescents due to potential arthropathy
Interaction avoidance
- Avoid concurrent administration with magnesium or aluminum containing antacids or sucralfate
- Avoid concurrent use with products containing calcium, iron, or zinc
Interaction with dairy
- Should not be taken concurrently with milk or dairy products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones

Precautions cns disorders
- Use with caution in patients with suspected or known CNS disorders
Precautions administration
- May be taken with or without meals
- Drink fluids liberally during administration
Special population use pediatric
- Not a drug of first choice in the pediatric population

- May lead to seizures
- Hallucinations
- Abdominal discomfort
- Renal and hepatic impairment
- Crystalluria
- Haematuria
- Reversible renal toxicity
