Indications
- Treatment of single and mixed infections
- Infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics
- Wide range of infections including urinary, respiratory, and gastrointestinal tracts
- Treatment of specific infections such as gonorrhea, septicaemia, and urinary tract infections
Pharmacology
- Synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent
- Broad spectrum of activity
- Active against gram-negative and gram-positive aerobic bacteria
- Bactericidal action through interference with DNA gyrase
- Rapid and well absorption from the G.I. tract
- Widely distributed into body tissues and fluids
Dosage
- Dosage determined by severity and type of infection
- Dosage range for adults is 100-750 mg twice daily
- Specific dosages for urinary, respiratory, and gonorrhea infections
- Dosage adjustment for impaired renal function
- Duration of treatment depends on severity and clinical response
Administration
- Instruction for IV infusion administration
- Proper handling of IV infusion solution
- Regulation of administration rate with flow control clamp
Interaction
- Avoid concurrent administration with specific products
- Two hours interval for certain products
- Significant reduction in absorption with milk or dairy products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones

Overdose Effects
- Seizures, hallucinations, confusion
- Abdominal discomfort, renal and hepatic impairment
- Crystalluria, haematuria, and reversible renal toxicity
