Indications
- Treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Treatment of infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics
- Treatment of urinary, respiratory, and gastrointestinal tract infections
- Treatment of gonorrhea and septicaemia
- Treatment of skin, soft tissue, and gastrointestinal infections
- Treatment of bone and joint infections
- Treatment of pelvic infections and eye, ear, nose, and throat infections
- Indicated for infected burns and biliary tract infections
Pharmacology
- Synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent
- Broad spectrum of activity against gram-negative aerobic bacteria
- Active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and gram-positive aerobic bacteria
- Bactericidal action through interference with DNA gyrase enzyme
Dosage
- Dosage range for adults: 100-750 mg twice daily
- Specific dosages for urinary, respiratory, and gonorrhea infections
- Dosage adjustment for impaired renal function
- Extended-release tablet dosage for uncomplicated urinary tract infection
- IV infusion dosages for different types of infections
Administration
- Instructions for Ciprofloxacin IV infusion administration
Interaction
- Avoid concurrent administration with magnesium or aluminum containing antacids
- Avoid concurrent administration with milk or dairy products
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones
