Description
Tyflox is a synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent used for the treatment of single infection or mixed infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Pharmacology
Ciprofloxacin, the active ingredient, has a broad spectrum of activity against most gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. The bactericidal action of Ciprofloxacin results from interference with the enzyme DNA gyrase needed for the synthesis of bacterial DNA.
Dosage
Dosage varies based on the severity and type of infection, sensitivity of the causative organism(s), age, weight, and renal function of the patient. Typical range for adults is 100-750 mg twice daily. Dosage adjustments are necessary in cases of impaired renal function.
Administration
Instructions for the use of Ciprofloxacin IV infusion, including checking for leaks, not using if solution is cloudy, regulating the flow rate, and more.
Interaction
Contraindicated with magnesium or aluminum containing antacids or sucralfate, calcium, iron, zinc, or milk, as they can affect absorption of Tyflox.
Contraindications
Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or other quinolones.
Side Effects
Gastrointestinal disturbances, central nervous system disturbances, hypersensitivity reactions, joint pain, mild photosensitivity, transient increase in liver enzymes, risk of hypoglycemia, mental health adverse effects.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy is not recommended due to potential arthropathy in immature animals. Not recommended for nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
Use with caution in patients with suspected or known CNS disorders. Avoid concurrent administration with certain antacids and dairy products.
Use in Special Populations
Not a drug of first choice in pediatric population.
Overdose Effects
May lead to seizures, hallucinations, confusion, abdominal discomfort, renal and hepatic impairment, crystalluria, haematuria, and reversible renal toxicity.
