Description

  • Xbac is a synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
  • It is indicated for the treatment of both single infection and mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms.
  • It is also effective in treating infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics including Aminoglycosides, Penicillins, and Cephalosporins.
  • The bactericidal action of Xbac results from interference with the enzyme DNA gyrase needed for the synthesis of bacterial DNA.
  • Dosage recommendations vary based on the severity and type of infection, sensitivity of the causative organism(s), and the age, weight, and renal function of the patient.
  • Xbac may be administered orally or through intravenous (IV) infusion.
  • Concurrent administration of Xbac should be avoided with certain products like antacids or dairy products, as they may interfere with its absorption.
  • It should be used with caution in patients with suspected or known CNS disorders or other factors predisposing to seizures and convulsions.
  • Xbac is not recommended for use during pregnancy or in nursing mothers.
  • It is stored under specific conditions to maintain its stability and effectiveness.
