Description
- Indicated for single or mixed infections caused by susceptible organisms
- Can be used for infections resistant to other antibiotics
- Obtains antibacterial concentrations in serum, body tissues, and urine
- Treats a wide range of infections including urinary, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and gonorrhoea
- Active against gram-negative aerobic bacteria and some gram-positive aerobic bacteria
- Interferes with the enzyme DNA gyrase for bacterial DNA synthesis
- Dosage depends on severity and type of infection, sensitivity of causative organisms, age, weight, and renal function
- Dosage range for adults: 100-750 mg twice daily
