Pharmacology

  • Synthetic quinolone anti-infective agent
  • Broad spectrum of activity

Recommendations for Adult Dosage

  • 100-750 mg twice daily

Recommendations for Lower and Upper Urinary Tract Infections

  • 250-500 mg twice daily
  • Depending on severity

Recommendations for Respiratory Tract Infections

  • 250-500 mg twice daily
  • 750 mg twice daily for known Streptococcus pneumonia

Treatment of Gonorrhea

  • Single dose of 250 or 500 mg

Other Infections

  • 500-750 mg twice daily

Special Dosage for Cystic Fibrosis

  • 750 mg twice daily

Impaired Renal Function Dosage

  • Dosage adjustment may be required

Duration of Treatment

  • 5 to 10 days
  • Continued for three days after signs and symptoms disappear

Extended-release Tablet Dosage

  • 1000 mg tablet once daily for three days
