Indications
- Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis

Pharmacology
Inhibits DNA synthesis in susceptible organisms
Dosage
- Acute Bacterial Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis: 400 mg for 5 days
- Acute Sinusitis: 400 mg for 10 days
- Community-acquired Pneumonia: 400 mg for 7-14 days
- Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections: 400 mg for 7-10 days
- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: 400 mg single dose or 200 mg for 3 days
- Complicated Urinary Tract Infections: 400 mg for 7-10 days
- Acute Pyelonephritis: 400 mg for 7-10 days
- Uncomplicated Urethral Gonorrhea in Men: 400 mg as a single dose
Administration
Can be administered without regard to food
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to gatifloxacin or any quinolone antimicrobial agents

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy: Use only if potential benefit outweighs potential risk to the fetus
- Lactation: Caution when administered to a nursing woman
Precautions & Warnings
Administered with caution in the presence of renal insufficiency
Use in Special Populations
- Renal Impaired Patient:
- Creatinine Clearance 40 mL/min: 400 mg daily
- Creatinine Clearance < 40 mL/min: 400 mg 200 mg daily
- Dialysis Patients:
- Hemodialysis: 400 mg 200 mg daily
- Continuous peritoneal dialysis: 400 mg 200 mg daily
- Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric populations
Overdose Effects
Low potential for acute toxicity, symptomatic and supportive treatment recommended
