Adult Dosage
- 500 mg once daily for 10-14 days

Child Dosage
- 10 mg/kg every 12 hours (6 months to <5 years)
- 10 mg/kg every 24 hours (>5 years)
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase
- DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination
Interaction
- Avoid co-administration with multivalent cations
- Reduced absorption with antacids, iron, and adsorbents
- Increased risk of CNS stimulation with NSAIDs
- Increased risk of bleeding with warfarin
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin
- Hypersensitivity to quinolone antimicrobial agents
