Description
- Synthetic, broad-spectrum, third-generation fluoroquinolone derivative
Indications
- Treatment of mild, moderate, and severe infections caused by susceptible micro-organisms
- Indicated for acute maxillary sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, enteric infections
Pharmacology
- Exerts antibacterial action by inhibiting bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase
- In vitro activity against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms
Dosage
- 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg orally every 24 hours
- Can be administered without regard to food
- Dosage adjustments for different conditions and age groups
- Sequential therapy (intravenous to oral) may be instituted

Interaction
