Pharmacology
- Inhibition of bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase
- Antibacterial action
- In vitro activity against a wide range of microorganisms
Dosage
- 250 mg or 500 mg or 750 mg orally every 24 hours
- Can be administered without regard to food
- Oral solution should be taken 1 hour before, or 2 hours after eating
- Intravenous infusion administration
- Single-use vials with specific doses for different conditions
- Sequential therapy (intravenous to oral) may be instituted at the discretion of the physician

- Instructions for the use of Levofloxacin infusion

- Proper fluid level establishment in drip chamber during infusion
- Regulation of administration rate with flow control clamp
Interaction
- Avoid co-administration with solutions containing multivalent cations
- Reduced absorption with antacids, iron, and adsorbents
- Increased risk of CNS stimulation with NSAIDs
- Increased risk of bleeding with warfarin
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or quinolone antimicrobial agents
- History of hypersensitivity to any components of the product

- Dose adjustment in renal insufficiency
