Description
- Levox is a synthetic, broad-spectrum, third-generation fluoroquinolone derivative antibacterial agent for oral administration.
- Levofloxacin is a chiral fluorinated carboxyquinolone.
Indications
- Treatment of mild, moderate, and severe infections caused by susceptible strains of designated micro-organisms in conditions such as acute maxillary sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated & complicated urinary tract infections, acute pyelonephritis, skin and soft tissue infections, enteric infections
Pharmacology
- Synthetic, broad-spectrum, third generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic
- Exerts antibacterial action by inhibiting bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase
Dosage
- Oral administration of 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg every 24 hours
- Intravenous infusion of 250 mg or 500 mg over 60 minutes every 24 hours, or 750 mg over 90 minutes every 24 hours

Interaction
