- 250 mg or 500 mg or 750 mg tablets
- Oral solution

Administration

Interaction
- Avoid co-administration with solutions containing multivalent cations
- Reduction of absorption by antacids, iron and adsorbents
- Increased risk of CNS stimulation with NSAID
- Increased risk of bleeding with warfarin
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin
- Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to quinolone antimicrobial agents
Side Effects
- Risk of retinal detachment
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, flatulence
- Rare occurrence of phototoxicity (0.1%)
- Rare side-effects like tremors, depression, anxiety, confusion
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy or nursing
- Effects on the unborn child or nursing infant are unknown

- Administered by slow intravenous infusion
- Adequate water intake during administration
- Dose adjustment needed in renal insufficiency
