Indications
- Treatment of mild, moderate and severe infections
- Acute maxillary sinusitis
- Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis

Description
Synthetic, broad-spectrum, third-generation fluoroquinolone derivative antibacterial agent for oral administration.
Pharmacology
Exerts antibacterial action by inhibiting bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase.
Dosage
- 250 mg or 500 mg or 750 mg administered orally every 24 hours
- 250 mg or 500 mg or 750 mg administered by slow infusion over 60 minutes every 24 hours for injection
- Sequential therapy (intravenous to oral) may be instituted at the discretion of the physician
Administration
- Check container for leaks
- Do not use if solution is cloudy or a precipitate is present
- Suspend container from hanger
- Regulate rate of administration with flow control clamp
Interaction
- No co-administration with multivalent cations
- Reduction in absorption with antacids, Iron and Adsorbents
- Increased risk of CNS stimulation with NSAID
- Increased risk of bleeding with Warfarin
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, quinolone antimicrobial agents, or any other components of this product

Pregnancy & Lactation

- Adequate water intake to avoid concentrated urine
- Dose adjustment in renal insufficiency
Overdose Effects
Low potential for acute toxicity, stomach should be emptied, patients should be kept under observation, appropriate hydration should be maintained
