Description
Synthetic, broad-spectrum, third-generation fluoroquinolone derivative antibacterial agent for oral administration
Pharmacology
Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase required for DNA replication
Dosage
- 250 mg, 500 mg, 750 mg tablets for oral administration
- 250 mg, 500 mg, 750 mg injections for intravenous infusion
Administration
Instructions for the use of levofloxacin infusion
Interaction
- Not to be co-administered with multivalent cations
- Reduction in absorption with antacids, iron, and adsorbents
- Increased risk of CNS stimulation with NSAIDs
- Increased risk of bleeding with warfarin
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or quinolone antimicrobial agents

Pregnancy & Lactation

Low potential for acute toxicity, stomach should be emptied in case of overdosage
