Indications

  • Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis
  • Treatment of bacterial corneal ulcer
  • Treatment of Blepharitis
  • Treatment of Hordeolum
  • Treatment of Perioperative ocular condition

Pharmacology

  • Sterile topical ophthalmic solution
  • Synthetic broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes

Dosage & Administration

  • 0.5% eye drop for adults and children 1 year and older for 7 days
  • 1.5% eye drop for adults and children 6 years and older for 4 days
  • Safety and effectiveness not established for children under 1 year

Interaction

  • Elevation of plasma concentrations of theophylline
  • Interference with metabolism of caffeine
  • Enhancement of effects of oral anticoagulant warfarin and its derivatives

Contraindications

  • Patients with hypersensitivity to Levofloxacin or other quinolones
  • Patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the medication

  • Ocular pain or discomfort
  • Pharyngitis
  • Photophobia
  • Allergic reactions
  • Lid edema

Precautions & Warnings

  • Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
  • Discontinue use if superinfection occurs
