Indications
- Bacterial conjunctivitis treatment
- Treatment for bacterial corneal ulcer
- Treatment for blepharitis
- Treatment for hordeolum

Pharmacology
- Sterile topical ophthalmic solution
- Synthetic broad spectrum antibiotic
- Third generation fluoroquinolone
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes
Dosage & Administration
- 0.5% eye drop for adults and children 1 year and older
- 1-2 drops every 2 hours for first 2 days
- 1-2 drops every 4 hours from day 3 to 7
- 1.5% eye drop for adults and children 6 years and older
- 1-2 drops every 30 minutes to 2 hours for first 3 days
- 1-2 drops every 1 to 4 hours after day 4
- Safety and effectiveness not established for children under 1 year
Interaction
- Potential interaction with theophylline
- Potential interference with caffeine metabolism
- Potential enhancement of oral anticoagulant effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin
- Hypersensitivity to other quinolones
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the medication

Precautions & Warnings
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Superinfection may occur, discontinue use and institute alternative therapy
