Indications

Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis
Treatment of bacterial corneal ulcer
Treatment of blepharitis
Treatment of hordeolum
Treatment of perioperative ocular conditions

Pharmacology

Sterile topical ophthalmic solution
Broad spectrum third generation fluoroquinolone bactericidal antibiotic
Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes

Dosage & Administration

0.5% eye drop for adults and children 1 year and older
1-2 drops every 2 hours for first 2 days
1-2 drops every 4 hours for days 3-7
1.5% eye drop for adults and children 6 years and older
1-2 drops every 30 minutes to 2 hours for days 1-3
1-2 drops every 1 to 4 hours for day 4 through treatment completion

Interaction

Systemic administration may elevate plasma concentrations of theophylline
Interfere with the metabolism of caffeine
Enhance the effects of oral anticoagulant warfarin

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Levofloxacin
Hypersensitivity to other quinolones
Hypersensitivity to any components of the medication
