Indications

Treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis
Treatment of bacterial corneal ulcer
Treatment of blepharitis
Treatment of hordeolum
Treatment of perioperative ocular conditions

Pharmacology

Sterile topical ophthalmic solution
Synthetic broad spectrum antibiotic
Bactericidal antibiotic
Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV
Inhibits DNA gyrase enzymes

Dosage & Administration

0.5% eye drop for adults and children above 1 year
1-2 drops every 2 hours for days 1 and 2
1-2 drops every 4 hours for days 3-7
1.5% eye drop for adults and children above 6 years
1-2 drops every 30 minutes to 2 hours for days 1-3
1-2 drops every 1 to 4 hours for days 4 through treatment completion
Safety for children under 1 year not established

Interaction

Elevates plasma concentrations of theophylline
Interferes with caffeine metabolism
Enhances effects of oral anticoagulant warfarin

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Levofloxacin
Hypersensitivity to other quinolones
Hypersensitivity to any components
