Indications
- Bacterial infections
- Conjunctivitis
- Blepharitis
- Blepharoconjunctivitis
- Corneal ulcers
Pharmacology
- Bacterial gyrase inhibitor
- Effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria
Dosage
- 2-3 times daily
- 1 drop into the lower conjunctival sac
- Initial frequent application
- Duration of treatment: 7-9 days
Administration
May be taken with or without food
Interaction
- Avoid ophthalmic preparations containing heavy metals
- Avoid concomitant use with bacteriostatic ophthalmic antibiotics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to active ingredient or quinolones
- Enhanced risk of secondary fungal infections or growth of non susceptible bacteria with long term use
Side Effects
- Slight and transient burning
- Possible photosensitization
- Possible allergic reactions including asthma, urticaria, and hypersensitization
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Animal studies indicate placental transfer and excretion into maternal milk
- Use only if benefit outweighs potential risk to foetus or infant

- Avoid intensive exposure to sunlight or UV-radiation during treatment

- Low risk of adverse effects due to accidental oral ingestion
