Indications

• Replacement of fluid and electrolyte loss
• Treatment for acute diarrhea
• Treatment for vomiting
• Treatment for dehydration

Composition

• Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
• Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
• Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
• Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm

Pharmacology

• Oral rehydration salt preparation
• Glucose-based oral rehydration salt
• Treatment or prevention of dehydration from diarrhea
• Prevention of acidosis due to electrolyte imbalance

Dosage

• Equivalent to patients' fluid requirement for maintenance and replenishment of losses
• Specific dosages for different age groups
• Guidelines for dosing after loose stool or vomiting

Administration

• Dispersal in 500 mL of pure drinking water
• Avoid mixing with hot water or heating the solution
• Discard unused solution after 12 hours

• No known drug interactions

Precautions & Warnings

• Supplementation with parenteral fluids for depressed renal function or severe continuing diarrhea
• Supplementation for other critical fluid losses
