Indications
- Tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp)
- Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body)
- Tinea pedis (athlete's foot)
- Tinea unguium (onychomycosis; ringworm of the nails)
- Tinea cruris (ringworm of the thigh)
- Tinea barbae (barber's itch)
- Inhibits the growth of specific fungi
Pharmacology
- Fungistatic
- Inhibits fungal cell mitosis
- Interferes with spindle and cytoplasmic microtubules
- Binds to keratin in human cells
Dosage
- Accurate diagnosis of infecting organism essential

Administration
- Should be taken with food
- Take immediately after meals
Interaction
- May require warfarin dosage adjustment
- Concomitant use of barbiturates may depress activity
- Reduces efficacy of oral contraceptives
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with porphyria and hepatocellular failure
- Contraindicated in individuals with history of hypersensitivity to griseofulvin
- Not prescribed to pregnant patients
