Description

  • Anfasil is a triazole antifungal agent indicated for various fungal infections such as vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis, tinea infections, onychomycosis, and more. It is a potent inhibitor of fungal cytochrome P-450 dependent enzymes, essential for the synthesis of ergosterol in fungal cell membrane.

DosageOptions

  • 150 mg as a single dose for vaginal candidiasis
  • 200 mg in 1st day followed by 100 mg daily for oropharyngeal candidiasis
  • 200 mg in 1st day followed by 100 mg daily for 14-30 days for esophageal candidiasis
  • 400 mg as a single dose for pityriasis versicolor
  • Orally/IV infusion, 400 mg on first day then 200-400 mg daily for invasive candidal infections and cryptococcal infections
  • 50-400 mg daily for prevention of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients

  • Abnormalities in hepatic, renal, haematological and biochemical function tests observed in some patients
  • Rare occurrence of exfoliative cutaneous reactions
  • Not recommended during lactation

UseInSpecialPopulations

  • Elderly patients: Use normal dose if no evidence of renal impairment
  • Renal impairment: Dosage intervals need modification based on creatinine clearance

OverdoseEffects

Supportive measures and symptomatic treatment recommended, forced volume diuresis may increase elimination rate, haemodialysis decreases plasma levels by approximately 50%
