Interaction
- Increased prothrombin time with warfarin
- Prolonged serum half-life of oral sulphonylureas
- Increased plasma concentrations of hydrochlorothiazide
- Increased level of phenytoin
- Decreased AUC and shorter half-life with rifampicin
- No relevant effects on combined oral contraceptives
- Slowly increased cyclosporin concentrations
- No impairment of absorption with food, cimetidine, or antacids
- Decrease in plasma clearance of theophylline
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds

- Rarely encountered rash
- Rare cases of anaphylaxis
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Adverse fetal effects seen in animals at high dose levels
- Not recommended in pregnancy or women of childbearing potential
Precautions & Warnings
- Observation of hepatic, renal, and hematological function tests
- Assessment of risk-benefit ratio in patients with significant rise of liver enzymes
- Rarely developed exfoliative cutaneous reactions
- Use in lactating mothers not recommended
- Unlikely to impair ability to drive or use machinery
Use in Special Populations
- Normal dose in the elderly if no evidence of renal impairment
- Dosage adjustments in renal impairment based on creatinine clearance
Overdose Effects
- Supportive measures and symptomatic treatment
- Forced volume diuresis may increase elimination rate
- Haemodialysis decreases plasma levels by approximately 50%
