Indications

Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds
Side Effects
- Common gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, flatulence
- Rare adverse events like rash
- Rare cases of anaphylaxis
Pregnancy & Lactation
Avoid use in pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential unless adequate contraception is employed; adverse fetal effects seen only at high dose levels
Precautions & Warnings
- Abnormalities in hepatic, renal, haematological, and biochemical function tests in some patients
- Rare occurrences of hepatic necrosis
- Rare development of severe cutaneous reactions
- Discontinue therapy if rash develops in superficial fungal infection
- Discontinue therapy if bolbous lesions or erythema multiform develop
- Not recommended for use during lactation
Use in Special Populations
- Normal dose for the elderly if no evidence of renal impairment
- Dosage adjustments for patients with renal impairment
Overdose Effects
Supportive measures and symptomatic treatment with gastric lavage if necessary; forced volume diuresis may increase elimination rate; haemodialysis decreases plasma levels by approximately 50%
