Indications
- Vaginal Candidiasis

Pharmacology
Triazole antifungal agent, potent inhibitor of fungal cytochrome P-450 dependent enzymes
Dosage & Administration
- Adults:
- Specific dosage for different types of candidiasis and Tinea
- Dosage interval modification for patients with renal impairment
- Dosage for prevention of fungal infections
- Children:
- Dosage for superficial candidiasis and systemic candidiasis & cryptococcal infection
- Specific dosage for children based on weight
- Elderly patient: Use normal dose if no evidence of renal impairment
- Renal Impairment: No adjustment in single dose therapy, modification in multiple-dose therapy
- Use in Specific Population: Dosage adjustment based on renal impairment
Interaction
- Increased prothrombin time with warfarin
- Prolongation of oral sulphonyl ureas half-life
- Increased plasma concentrations with hydrochlorothiazide
- Increase in phenytoin level
- Decrease in fuconazole AUC and shorter half-life with rifampicin
- Effects on combined oral contraceptive, cyclosporin, theophylline
- No clinically significant impairment when co-administered with certain items
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds

Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended for use unless adequate contraception is employed
Precautions & Warnings
- Observation of abnormalities in hepatic, renal function tests
- Rare development of severe cutaneous reactions
- Cautious use in patients with rashes
- Avoid use during lactation
- Unlikely to impair ability to drive or use machinery
Use in Special Populations
- Normal dose for elderly without evidence of renal impairment
- Dosage adjustment for renal impairment based on creatinine clearance
Overdose Effects
Supportive measures, symptomatic treatment, gastric lavage if necessary, forced volume diuresis, hemodialysis
