Indications
- Vaginal Candidiasis

Potent inhibitor of fungal cytochrome P-450 dependent enzymes responsible for ergosterol synthesis

Interaction
- Interaction with warfarin, oral sulphonylureas, hydrochlorothiazide, phenytoin, rifampicin, combined oral contraceptive, cyclosporin, food, cimetidine, antacids, theophylline, and other medications
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds

- Gastrointestinal symptoms
- Nausea
- Abdominal discomfort
- Diarrhoea
- Fatulence
- Rarely encountered adverse events such as rash and anaphylaxis
Pregnancy & Lactation
Avoid use in pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential unless adequate contraception is used
Precautions & Warnings
- Abnormalities in hepatic, renal, and biochemical function tests
- Risk of liver enzyme rise and hepatic necrosis
- Potential development of severe cutaneous reactions
- Monitoring for rash and discontinuation if necessary
- Not recommended during lactation
- Unlikely to impair ability to drive or use machinery
Use in Special Populations
- Elderly: Normal dose usage if no evidence of renal impairment
- Renal Impairment: Dosage adjustments based on creatinine clearance
Overdose Effects
Supportive and symptomatic treatment, gastric lavage, and potential increase in elimination rate through forced volume diuresis or haemodialysis
