Pharmacology
- Triazole antifungal agent
- Potent inhibitor of fungal cytochrome P-450 dependent enzymes
- Synthesis of ergosterol inhibitor
Dosage & Administration
- Dosage for Vaginal Candidiasis: 150 mg as a single dose
- Dosage for Oropharyngeal Candidiasis: 200 mg in 1st day followed by 100 mg daily for 14 days
- Dosage for Oesophageal Candidiasis: 200 mg in 1st day followed by 100 mg daily for 14-30 days
- Dosage for Tinea corporis/Tinea cruris/Tinea pedis/Other Tinea: 150 mg weekly for 4-6 weeks
- Dosage for Kerion: 50 mg daily for 20 days
- Dosage for Pityriasis versicolor: 400 mg as a single dose
- Dosage for Onychomycosis: 150 mg weekly for 12 months
- Dosage for Invasive candidal infections and cryptococcal infections (including meningitis): Orally or by IV infusion, 400 mg on first day then 200-400 mg daily
- Dosage for Prevention of cryptococcal meningitis: Orally or by IV infusion 200 mg daily
- Dosage for Prevention of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients: Orally or by IV infusion, 50-400 mg daily
- Child Dosage for Superficial Candidiasis: 1-2 mg/kg daily
- Child Dosage for Systemic Candidiasis & Cryptococcal infection: 3-6 mg/kg daily

Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Adverse fetal effects seen in animals
- Not recommended in pregnancy or nursing mothers
- Use contraception in women of childbearing potential
Precautions & Warnings
- Abnormalities in hepatic, renal, haematological tests observed
- Potential hepatic necrosis in severe cases
- Exfoliative cutaneous reactions risk
- May cause Stevens Johnson Syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis in rare cases
- Not recommended during lactation
- Unlikely to impair driving or machinery usage
Use in Special Populations
- Normal dose recommended for elderly without renal impairment
- Adjust dosage intervals for renal impairment
