Triazole antifungal agent inhibiting fungal cytochrome P-450 dependent enzymes
Dosage & Administration
- Adults:
- Specific dosages for different indications
- Variations based on age, weight, and medical conditions
- Dosage adjustments for elderly, renal impairment, and children
- Children over 1 year:
- Recommended dosages for Superficial Candidiasis and Systemic Candidiasis & Cryptococcal infection
- Use in Specific Population:
- Elderly patient: Normal dose if no evidence of renal impairment
- Renal Impairment: Dosage adjustments based on creatinine clearance

- Interaction with warfarin

Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds
Side Effects
- Common: Gastrointestinal symptoms
- Rare: Rash, anaphylaxis
Pregnancy & Lactation
Adverse fetal effects observed in animals; not recommended in pregnancy or lactation without adequate contraception
Precautions & Warnings
- Abnormalities in hepatic, renal, haematological, and biochemical function tests in some patients
- Rare occurrences of hepatic necrosis
- Rare development of exfoliative cutaneous reactions
- Caution in patients with rash during treatment
- Not recommended during lactation
