Pharmacology
Fluconazole is a potent inhibitor of fungal cytochrome P-450 dependent enzymes, essential for the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane.
Dosage & Administration
- Adults:
- Varying dosages for different conditions as specified
- Child over 1 year:
- Specific dosages for superficial and systemic candidiasis

- Interaction with warfarin

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds

Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended for use in pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential unless adequate contraception is employed
Precautions & Warnings
- Possible abnormalities of hepatic, renal, haematological functions
- Rare occurrence of hepatic necrosis
- Potential development of severe cutaneous reactions
- Monitoring and discontinuation in case of rashes during treatment
- Not recommended during lactation
- Unlikely to impair ability to drive or use machinery
Use in Special Populations
- Normal dose for elderly if no evidence of renal impairment
- Adjusted dosage for renal impairment based on creatinine clearance
