Dosage & Administration

- Use in Specific Population:
- Dosage adjustment for elderly patients
- Dosage modification based on renal impairment
- Renal clearance in children may be more rapid than in adults
Interaction
- Increased prothrombin time with warfarin
- Prolonged serum half-life of oral sulphonyl ureas
- Increased plasma concentrations with hydrochlorothiazide
- Potential interactions with phenytoin, rifampicin, and cyclosporin
- Limited effect on combined oral contraceptives
- Interaction with food, cemetidine, antacids, and theophylline
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Fluconazole or related triazole compounds

Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended for use in pregnancy or in women of childbearing potential without adequate contraception
Precautions & Warnings
- Abnormalities of hepatic, renal, and biochemical function tests observed in some patients
- Rare cases of severe cutaneous reactions
- Discontinue if rash develops during treatment for superficial fungal infection
- Not recommended for use during lactation
Use in Special Populations
- Elderly: Normal dosage if no evidence of renal impairment
- Renal Impairment: Dosage modification based on creatinine clearance
Overdose Effects
Supportive measures and symptomatic treatment recommended; forced volume diuresis may increase elimination rate
