Interaction
- Should not be given concurrently with terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, oral midazolam or triazolam
- Significant interactions observed with rifampin, phenytoin, phenobarbital, digoxin, and calcium channel blockers
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug or any ingredient in the formulation
- Severe hepatic disease
- Contraindicated in patients taking rifampin

- Cases of hepatitis and jaundice reported in patients treated for longer than one month
- Liver function monitoring advised for continuous treatment of more than one month
