Description

Ketocon 200 mg Tablet is used for the treatment and prophylaxis of various fungal infections such as pityriasis versicolor, seborrhoeic dermatitis, dandruff, tinea pedis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and candidiasis. It is also effective in preventing fungal infections in patients with reduced immune defenses.

  • Pharmacology: Inhibits ergosterol synthesis and increases fungal cellular permeability.
  • Dosage & Administration:
    • Shampoo:
      • Treatment: Once daily for 5 days (Pityriasis Versicolor), Twice weekly for 2 to 4 weeks (Seborrhoeic Dermatitis and Dandruff)
      • Prophylaxis: Once daily for 3 days during a single treatment course before summer (Pityriasis Versicolor), Once every 1 or 2 weeks (Seborrhoeic Dermatitis and Dandruff)
    • Cream: Applied twice daily for mild infections, continued until a few days after all signs and symptoms have disappeared for severe or extensive infections.
  • Interaction: May interact with antimuscarinics, antacids, H2-blockers, PPIs, rifampicin, isoniazid, and oral contraceptives.
  • Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ketoconazole.
