Product description
- Dancel 2% Shampoo is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of infections in which the yeast Malassezia is involved, such as pityriasis versicolor, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and dandruff. It works by stopping the growth of the fungus.

Recommended usage
- Apply to affected areas of the skin or scalp, leave for 3-5 minutes before rinsing
- Once daily for 5 days for pityriasis versicolor

Pharmacology

Dosage and administration

Interactions
- Reduced absorption with antimuscarinics, antacids, H2-blockers, PPIs, and sucralfate
- Reduced plasma concentrations with rifampicin, isoniazid, efavirenz, nevirapine, phenytoin
- May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives
- May increase serum levels of CYP3A4 substrates
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole
Side effects
- Topical treatment is generally well tolerated
- Adverse reactions may include burning sensation, erythema, pruritus, and dryness
Precautions and warnings
- In patients with a previous history of liver disease, liver enzyme levels should be monitored during treatment
- Avoid contact with the eyes
