Indications

Pharmacology
- Combination of Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate
- Formation of gel in stomach
- Formation of bubbles of carbon dioxide
- Raft formation to prevent acid flow into the esophagus
- Lasts up to 4 hours

Dosage & Administration
- Tablet and suspension forms
- Dosage for adults and children over 12 years
- Dosage for children 6-12 years
- Dosage for children and adults over 12 years
- Use not recommended under 2 years of age
- No dose modifications for elderly
- No dose modifications for hepatic impairment
- Caution for renal insufficiency with highly restricted salt diet
Interaction
- Time interval of 2 hours with other medicinal products
- Especially tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, and estramustine
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate

- Caution in patients with renal impairment
- Caution in patients with congestive cardiac failure
- Care needed in treating patients with hypercalcemia
- Care needed in treating patients with nephrocalcinosis
- Care needed in treating patients with recurrent calcium-containing renal calculi
- Possibility of reduced efficacy in patients with very low levels of gastric acid
- Clinical review if symptoms do not improve after seven days
