Description
- Treatment of symptoms resulting from the reflux of acid, bile, and pepsin into the esophagus
- Relief from acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion
- Suitable for use after gastric surgery, during pregnancy, and with hiatus hernia
- Effective for laryngopharyngeal reflux symptoms such as hoarseness and voice disorders
- Can be used during concomitant treatment with or following the withdrawal of acid suppressing therapy

Dosage and Administration
- Tablet dosage for adults and children over 12 years
- Tablet dosage for children 6-12 years
- Suspension dosage for adults and children 12 years and above

- Not recommended for children under 2 years of age
- No dose modifications for the elderly
- No dose modifications for individuals with hepatic impairment
- Caution with highly restricted salt diet in case of renal insufficiency
Mode of Action
- Combination of Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate
- Formation of a gel reacting with stomach acid
- Generation of carbon dioxide bubbles to create a protective raft in the stomach
- Physical action, not dependent on absorption into systemic circulation
- Raft lasts up to 4 hours and is excreted in the feces
Interaction
- Consider a 2-hour interval between intake and administration of certain medicinal products
- Includes tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, and estramustine
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate
Side Effects
- Possible side effects: nausea, constipation, diarrhea, headache
- Consult a physician in case of significant dosage or sensation of swelling
Pregnancy and Lactation
- Can be used during pregnancy if clinically needed
- No known effect on breast-fed infants
- Safe for use during breastfeeding
Precautions and Warnings
- Prescribed with caution in patients with renal impairment and congestive cardiac failure
- Care needed in treating patients with hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis, and recurrent calcium-containing renal calculi
- Possibility of reduced efficacy in patients with very low levels of gastric acid
- Review clinical situation if symptoms do not improve after seven days
