Pharmacology

  • Omeprazole as an inhibitor of gastric acid secretion
  • Inhibition of gastric acid secretion by blocking H+/K+ ATPase enzyme
  • Onset of the antisecretory effect within one hour
  • Maximum effect occurring within two hours
  • Inhibition of secretion lasting up to 72 hours
