A proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers, and conditions involving excessive stomach acid production.
Reduces chronic heartburn symptoms and other symptoms associated with GERD.
Heals erosive esophagitis and maintains its healing.
Eradicates Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with duodenal ulcer disease when used in combination with amoxicillin and clarithromycin.
Used for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, acid-related dyspepsia, duodenal & gastric ulcers.

Reduces gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase in the gastric parietal cell.
Promotes better acid control than racemic proton pump inhibitors.
Supplies enteric-coated pellet formulation of esomeprazole magnesium for oral administration.

Absorption: Peak plasma levels occur at approximately 1.5 hours after oral administration.
Distribution: 97% bound to plasma proteins.
Metabolism: Extensively metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme system.
Excretion: Plasma elimination half-life is approximately 1-1.5 hours.
Steady state bioavailability is approximately 90% compared to 64% after a single dose.

Enteric-coated pellets for oral dosage form.
Solution for injection prepared using 0.9% Sodium Chloride for intravenous injection.
Reconstituted solution for injection is clear and colorless to very slightly yellow.

Oral dosage form should be swallowed whole and taken one hour before a meal.
Oral suspension should be stirred well and drunk within 30 minutes. Can be administered through a nasogastric or gastric tube.
IV Injection must be administered intravenously over a period of at least 3 minutes.
